Kersten has graduated from Spelman University. In 2021, Kersten joined the group as part of the summer SMART program at BCM and worked on projects related endometrial cancer drug discovery.

Vanessa Joseph, B.S.
Laboratory Technician
Vanessa received her Bachelor’s in Science degree in Neuroscience at the University of Texas, Dallas. In the lab, Vanessa maintained the mouse colonies, processed human tissue specimens for organoid and primary cell cultures, and assisted with a variety of laboratory bench work. In her free time, Vanessa likes painting, drawing and playing video games.



Tim Dunn, MD
Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Fellow
Tim obtained his undergraduate degree in Biology at Texas A&M University. He attended Baylor College of Medicine for medical school, before going to University of Alabama – Birmingham for OB/GYN residency. He is currently completing his REI fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, where he studied novel non-hormonal therapies for endometriosis. In his spare time, Tim enjoys trying new recipes with his wife, Lindsay, working out, watching sports, and spending time with his church.
Emmi Kapiainen, PhD

Emmi is a postdoctoral researcher in the University of Oulu, Oulu, Finland, where she explores diverse aspects of reproductive biology in the group of Dr. Renata Prunskaite-Hyyryläinen. In fall 2024 she visited the Monsivais Lab supported by the Fulbright Finland Foundation and Fibrobesity Visitor Program to expand her know-how on primary human endometrial cell culture systems and to do collaborative work studying molecular mechanisms regulating female fertility. Off work Emmi enjoys gardening and reading.
Ting Geng, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Geng received her PhD in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Wuhan University in 2022 where studied the impacts environmental toxicants on placental development and germ cell/embryo development in women with endometriosis. At BCM, Ting used organoid cultures and mouse models to study endometrial regeneration and decidualization. In her free time, Ting enjoys cooking and exploring the Houston area.
